General information
Furosemide is an urinative. It is used in the treatment of congestive heart failure and edema in people with heart, liver or kidney illness.
Directions
Use it as prescribed by your doctor. Take it with a special dose-measuring spoon or medicine cup, not with a regular. Follow the directions of your doctor.
Precautions
Do not use furosemide if you are unable to urinate. Before using furosemide, tell your doctor if you have kidney disease, enlarged prostate, urination problems, cirrhosis or other liver disease, an electrolyte imbalance, high cholesterol, gout, lupus, diabetes, or an allergy to sulfa drugs. Avoid using it if you are pregnant.
Possible side effect
The drug may cause dry mouth, giddy, petulance, sedation, sleeplessness, blurred vision, low fever, ischuria, stomach pain, jaundice, muscle pain, loss of appetite, dark urine, skin rash or weakness. Call your doctor for medical advice about side effects.
Drug interaction
Before using it, tell your doctor if you regularly use other medicines such as Carafate, vitamins, minerals or herbal products. Consult your doctor or pharmacist for additional information.
Missed dose
Usually it is used once. Skip the missed dose if it is time for your next scheduled dose. Do not take extra medicine to make up the missed dose.
Overdose
If you think you have overdosed the medicine seek emergency medical help at once. Overdose symptoms may include loss of appetite, sickness, chest pain, breaker heartbeat or giddiness.
Storage
Store your medicines at room temperature. Store away from moisture and light. Use it within 60 to 90 days after opening the bottle. Keep it out of the reach of children and away from pets.
